Starting on July 1, 2026, the interest rate reduction for borrowers enrolled in auto pay will go from 0.25% to 1%. This reduction is available to borrowers with Direct Loans disbursed on or after July 1st, 2012. Visit StudentAid.gov to learn more and enroll by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sept. 30, 2026, to receive the temporary benefit through June 30, 2028.


On March 10, 2026, a court order ended the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan. The U.S. Department of Education will contact impacted borrowers, who can explore and apply for other repayment plans. For more information, visit StudentAid.gov/courtactions.


On Oct. 30, 2025, the U.S. Department of Education published final Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program regulations that will be effective on July 1, 2026. We'll provide updates when the regulations are implemented. For now, there are no impacts to borrowers, payment counts, or discharges.

Repayment Plan Changes Starting July 1, 2026

The newest repayment plans—the Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP) and Tiered Standard Plan—are available effective July 1, 2026. SAVE Plan is Ending

Borrowers who enrolled in or applied for the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan and have loans in forbearance must select a new repayment plan after receiving a notice from MOHELA. No need to call! For a quick and easy path to change plans or explore your options, log in to your Studentaid.gov account, and use the Repayment Calculator. Agents can't process IDR plans

If you are calling MOHELA to request an income-driven repayment plan including the new RAP plan, please know that our phone agents cannot sign you up for those plans. Visit Studentaid.gov/IDR to apply today.

MOHELA offers a comprehensive medical plan that includes prescription coverage for employees and their dependents. A health savings account is available for employees to save for the future or to pay current medical expenses. We share the cost of insurance premiums with our employees. Vision coverage is available at no cost and offers free eye exams, and discounts on glasses and contacts. MOHELA offers an incentive for employees who waive MOHELA’s medical plan and obtain medical coverage with another group medical plan.

And the clock starts now! Time off begins to build when your employment starts. We observe 6 holidays a year: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. We also offer 4 Personal Holidays for you to use!

You will receive at least 17 days of available time off in Personal Time Off (PTO) and Vacation benefits. The days roll over from year to year, if unused.

Family is very important to MOHELA. Birth and adoption time off benefits are also available to employees.


Tuition Reinbursement

One of MOHELA’s core values is education. We support helping our employees and their dependents reach their educational goals. After 3 months of employment, you can qualify for up to $12,000 per calendar year in tuition reimbursement.

After you complete six months of service, MOHELA will match each dollar you contribute up to the first 8% of your salary. You can contribute up to 50% of your annual salary. It’s simple to contribute through payroll deduction.

MOHELA’s offices in Chesterfield and Columbia, Missouri, are located in close proximity to nearby shopping, restaurants, schools, county parks and public transportation. Both are located near interstate highways, to allow for more of a direct commute.

Our federal satellite office is located in Washington, DC.

All locations offer a professional and pleasant work environment, with an exceptional team of employees.
